On Thursday, March 5, 2015, we formally introduced and blessed this beautiful new addition to our campus. We were honored to have Uncle Les share a Hawaiian blessing. Parents and community members also joined us for the ceremony, which included poems and songs about peace presented by our students.
Mahalo to Scott Lacasse, Garden Resource Teacher, and many parent volunteers for working so hard to create this space. Also, we are deeply grateful to Rena and Jonathan Biel for generously underwriting the space and for their heart-felt inspiration.

Koa Class IMO Experiment
Seven students from the Montessori School of Maui ranging from 6th-8th grade participated in a scientific study exploring the effects of indigenous micro-organisms (IMO) and Korean Natural Farming practices on Hawaiian garden soil. The ongoing study began in September of 2014 and will continue through May of 2015. Funded by a grant from the Maui Economic Development Committee and administered through the Hawaiian Farmer's Union Maui Chapter, the study was initiated by our Garden Resource Teacher, Scott Lacasse, after attending the workshop "Restoring the Soul of Hawaii's Soil" last May.
