CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS AND HOLIDAYS
involving parents are integral to the life of the school. Many of these celebrations revolve around the
activities of individual classes:
holidays, simple plays, birthdays, farewells. Others bring the larger community
together: a student production, teacher
appreciation day, Earth Day clean-up, graduation.
Whether small and informal or organized for the whole school, celebrations and rituals highlight and affirm the values and vision of the school. The MOMI community attempts to reduce and de-emphasize the over stimulation and “media hype” created during holiday seasons and prefers to emphasize the needs of the individual child.
