The Role of the Montessori
Teacher
The Montessori teacher acts as a mentor to the
child in the educational environment. Based on observation and ongoing
evaluation of individual needs, the teacher guides the children in learning
with specific lessons. Another important function of the teacher is to set
reasonable limits and foster responsibility in each child. These guidelines
must be true to the children’s sense of fairness, and consistent with values
and attitudes outside of the school environment, and respond to their
developmental needs.
