Wait List Application Requirements
There are four mandatory steps required to complete the Wait List process for possible enrollment:
1. Complete the Wait List Application and pay the $50.00 non-refundable/non-transferable application fee. Your child will be placed in our database and you will receive a letter inviting you to schedule a Prospective Parent Orientation.
Parents of Elementary and Middle School students must provide copies of their child’s last report card or equivalent, most recent achievement testing scores and Teacher Reference form(s) with your Wait List Application to be considered for an interview.
2. Schedule and attend a Prospective Parent Orientation. This informational hour includes a tour of the school and introduces the Montessori educational philosophy, the history of our school and our policies and procedures. This is also a good time to ask any questions that you may have regarding our school. We ask that parents attend this orientation without their children. No childcare will be provided.
3. Schedule and attend a Classroom Observation. You may schedule a ½ hour classroom observation after you have attended a Parent Orientation. Parent Orientations and Classroom Observations take place on different days. We ask that parents attend this observation without their children. No childcare will be provided.
4. Prospective students participate in an interview. The interview process provides an opportunity to become acquainted and determine the appropriate placement for your child. Student interviews are conducted in the classroom. Toddler and Primary children interview in groups and Elementary and Middle School children interview individually with one or more teachers. If your child has been invited to an interview it means that there are spaces available for enrollment, however, does not guarantee placement for your child. Once your child has been accepted and placed, you will receive an offer of enrollment. Our interviews are conducted annually unless there are special circumstances or mid-year placements.
Acceptance Information: Acceptance of an applicant is based on several factors including a successful match between the family and the school in understanding the educational goals for the child. We take into consideration, for all levels, factors related to your child’s individual developmental readiness in order to ensure your child’s appropriate placement in our school. Interviews, grades, test scores and teacher references are an important part of the selection process for applicants for the Elementary and Middle School programs. Siblings of current students, alumni families, Montessori student transfers, and families who have completed the Prospective Parent Orientation and Classroom Observation receive priority consideration on the Wait List. New applicants are admitted for the remaining spaces while the school seeks to achieve a balance of age and gender in each classroom. Notification of acceptance and offers of enrollment are mailed to parents in mid-March.
Removal from the Wait List: Your child will be removed from the Wait List once you have accepted an offer of enrollment, declined an offer of enrollment twice, not responded to two Parent Orientation invitations, or you have requested to be removed from the Wait List.
